Protruding rebar sticks are unsafe. Anyone working around them should be mindful of the risk, and safety measures should be taken.

Workers should not be allowed to work above the vertically jutting rebar sticks unless it has been cap protected to get rid of the potential risk of impalement. Rebar cap, wood boards or like devices must cover the rebar sticks.

Handles on bull floats should be of non-conductive resources or insulated with a non-conductive cover when used around live electrical conductors to prevent electrical shock.

To prevent employees and everyday people from accidentally being run through, the tops of steel rebar sticks that are sticking out, are bent over or covered with special steel reinforced plastic called "plate" caps. "Mushroom" caps can also provide protection from scratches and other minor harm, but provide little to no defense from impalement.

When using an electrical or spinning type trowel machine, the control switch should automatically shut down the electricity when the operator removes his hands from the handle. - Do not use tie-downs or anything else to get around the turn-off switches.
